We are constantly trying to improve the quality of our materials and facilities to better serve our students. We currently have two major projects. Please check back often for updates on these projects and please contact Friends of Zagol Academy if you would like to help in any way.
Solar Panel Project
The Project: In order to be environmentally responsible and energy independent, we are planning to mount solar panels on each of our schools. With sunshine most of the year, Addis Ababa is the perfect place to take advantage of the Sun's natural energy. Because the energy system in Addis Ababa and Ethiopia is overextended, this project will not only benefit our school, but the city as a whole and set a strong example for the local community as well.
How you can help: We can use your help in fundraising or identifying and securing grants for the equipment. We also need experts in Addis Ababa to help us with installation.
Book Drive
The Project:In order to provide our students with the reading materials they need, we are trying to stock our library and our classrooms with books. Thanks to a generous donation of text books from Mary Lyon School in Brighton, MA, we have a great start..
How you can help: Please send us new or used English language books, especially for the ages of 3-12 years. Once we have collected enough books, we will need help finding a way to ship them to Ethiopia. If you like, please donate now to make this shipment possible.
Scholarships
We welcome you to support a child in Ethiopia by providing them with a quality education and a safe and supportive environment to learn and grow. If you choose to support a child, we will work closely with you to make the right decisions about how your scholarship is used to ensure that your help is being used productively and your goals are being achieved.
